Bridge for Youth is asking for a grant of $1000.00 from Seattle Bridge Unit.



Greetings, all--



I am writing to request a grant from the Seattle Bridge Unit to apply to
the 2016 Summer Bridge for Youth Camp.



As we have discussed previously, this year’s camp will be in two sections:
Beginners (June 27-July1, with Alan Tesler) and Advancing (July 11-15, with
Nick Tipton). To date we have 18 campers signed up (9 beginners and 9
advancing).  I have heard that more are planning on enrolling in each
section, but as of today, do not have  firm commitments.



I have enclosed our revised budget for your review.  Our basic expenses
include

·         Rent

·         Insurance

·         Supplies

·         Transportation

·         Misc.





Our revenues (estimated) to date are



·         $2000 in enrollments

·         $1000 Educational Foundation grant

·         $500 in community donations (basically Nick’s charity game and
from board members)





The $1000.00 from the Unit will go to two specific things:



·         Help to offset the cost of the bus that will be hired to
transport the kids playing at the Friday sectional from MI to the event at
Forest Ridge.



·         Help to defray post-camp plans:  supplying cards, bidding boxes,
boards, possible rent and periodic communications with the campers. (David
Dailey and I are working on some ideas)





The money from the Unit also helps to validity our organization in the eyes
of the ACBL’s Education Fund.  According to our Ed Fund contact (Flo), the
Foundation wants it demonstrated that we are supported by the local bridge
community, including the local Unit.



Thank you for your consideration of our request.  It will make a major
difference in our finances and will help guarantee our solvency as we move
to plan next year’s camp.
