Have you tried firefox -p some_profile_name ? I guess you can use the 
MAC address as profile name ?

I have not used MAC address as profile name, but I have used -p to allow 
me to open remote firefox on my local X. Something like "ssh -Y 
vu at mydesktop "firefox -p vu_on_notebook_1". Without that -p, I have the 
error "Firefox is already running, but is not responding".
