The version I have on my Mac 10.6.x system is 2.0.0.24 which is
somewhat out of date.  I'm downloading 3.0.4 as I write this to
give it a try.

On those rare occassions when I use a GUI mail client, it's
usually the Apple Mail.app because of its tight integration with
the Address Book, iCal, and other tools.
