Kubuntu came out with KDE4 about two releases ago and at least (I suppose) you
have a KDE4 that works better than the first releast of it did back in
October.
And yes, kubuntu rammed it down your throat in the same fashion.... but I
didn't buy it. First I tried a backport that someone made up but felt that I
was going to be twixt and tween with a bastardized release of <what>. Didn't
like that idea.
So I fell back to XFCE4 and really liked it... just three minor changes for
the wife:
1) A double click on desktop icons. (why I don't know. no way to change it)
2) I lost the ability to put a background image on the desktop and have it
changes every xxx minutes. (no biggie and I now have that working)
3) Instead of the 'big K' to get to the app menus, you right click on the
desktop. (a plus in my opinion)
All that and less overhead.... I like it....
Switched the wife over without much hassel at all. And I'm not sure I'll
ever use KDE again.
