I guess it depends on the laptop.....
I bought a Toshiba Satellite model last summer and it had Vista. After I
dumped that and loaded Kubuntu, the wifi wouldn't work and the eth card
wouldn't work.
Didn't take long to get the wifi working but I waited a long time to get the
(Marvel Yukon) eth0 connection to work.
And loading up Windows XP wasn't much better..... In that case I think Eth0
worked fine but the wifi didn't.
It's a mixed bag depending on the hardware in the laptop.
