All you can do is try it.  The more solidly a house is built, the less
the waves travel.  Even though you are well within the ground plane of
the AP, you still might not get through.  You'll be better off with g
or one of the a cards that uses OFDM than the b cards which use DSSS.

Putting an external antenna on your cards and AP will also help.

Bottom line, the only way to know is to try.
