This is an mplayer bug.  There's some speculation on the mplayerplug-in 
mailing list that its a race condition in the mplayer 'xv' videoout.


In my experience, (re)loading the movie several times will eventually get 
it to play.  On the other hand, I have my mplayerplug-in preferences set 
up to save the movie after downloading, so I can just fire up mplayer to 
play it without the plugin.
