Movie trailers, mplayer, etc.

Just to keep the "dead" comments at bay, here's a topic to ponder.

Lately I've been encountering more and more trailers onthe
AppleTrailers site that will not play using Firefox/Seamonkey, mplayer
plugin, and theaccursed non-free codecs. Interestingly enough, some of
these will not play on my wife's XP box either. For example, Dream
Girls and Babel among the current offerings. mplayer buffers to 99%
and hangs.

Any guesses what might be wrong?
