Actually, Ajay, this behaviour is NOT consistent across all Microsoft 
applications. If you used the "X" button at the top right-hand corner of 
the window to close files, in MSWord2000, you will close the file, but 
NOT the application. If you used it in Excel, it closes everything. 
Powerpoint does the same thing. If you closed Outlook, it will still 
leave open message windows open.

If you used the File menu, then, yes, Quit/Exit = quits the application 
and Close = closes the document. But a lot of people I know use the "X" 
rather than the File menu. And the File menu's Exit still works 
differently for Outlook.

Take it from someone who does this for a living (ugh!). Or you can 
verify it yourself, if you have a Windows system handy.
