If memory serves, closing a document in M$ Office doesn't NOT exit the
application. However, doing File -> Quit will close both the document (and
possibly prompt you to save it) and the application.
This is normal Windows behavior.
In the Mac world, this is also true for almost all applications (you can
click on the top left to close a window but that does not normally close
the application).
Maybe OO2 is following the norm in the dominant desktop OS's?
