Knoppix file size limit?

This may well be a dumb question, since no one yet has asked. If so, please
enlighten me. But, why are you saving your disk image as an iso file
(of=/mnt/public/hddimage.iso)? It's not obvious to me that the image being
read (if=/dev/hda) is an iso image and calling it one, won't make it one.
