I doubt that's a dumb question.

Mostly I want to save an image that can be dumped back to a hdd by the 
reverse process. And I tend to think in terms of iso files for disk 
images. But you're right about the fact that internally it won't be an 
iso image. (Wonder what the currect naming scheme would be?)
