I've had minor issues with nvidia, but on most of my systems it works
well. There are debian packages, and I'm running debian 3 with kernel
2.6.9-1-k7 (prepackaged) and the nvidia packages loaded nicely. This is
true about mepis and ubuntu.
On debian I installed 3 packages:
nvidia-kernel-common
nvidia-kernel-source
nvidia-settings
This works well.
On my Slackware 10 system I used the driver from the nvidia website
without problem.
You do need to read the README stuff, which explains the proper editing
of the XF86Config-4 or xorg.conf file.
