Dunno. I'll try it when I get home tonight. But doesn't remote X come IN 
on port 177 and return on 6000? That's what I think I read in the 
gdm.conf file. Not sure whether the inability to telnet to 6000 would be 
an indication of a problem. But, as I said, I'll try it.

My current theory is that since I'm using my Linksys router as the 
gateway, I need to forward port 177 to my FC1 server. I didn't think 
that was necessary for local network traffic, but I guess that might be 
the case...

FWIW, I ran 'tcpdump -i etho|grep 177' on the FC1 box and nothing showed.
