Dep, when I said my insulin pump was a result of the space program, it was
an engineer's idea that worked at the Sandia Labs.  He did it in his spare
time with "junk" from the program.  I can't remember if it was for him or a
friend.  I'm sure there are more accidental inventions or products that most
folks don't realize were developed as part of the space program.  The stuff
like computers, et al are just part of it.
