My lot is on an old placer mine.  About 3' of fill on bedrock.  I had to
drive the 6' ground rod in at 35-45 degrees.  I'll crawl down under the deck
and look at my connection.  It passed County inspection 15 or so years ago
when I redid my wiring.  When I talked to the local PP&L power man he
thought the missing middle wire was going to play hell with my stuff.  My
AAA house insurance isn't going to help much.
