I have several topics that I have a question on, some may be of no interest to
all.
topic 1: Wireless acces point
I have a dsl system running very nicely here, but I would like to put my laptop
on a wireless setup. This is because at school they have installed wireless in
all building for everyone to connect to the internet with. I hvae a wireless
pcmcia card , prism2 from dlink. My question is this: Is a wireless access point
the proper way to go by plugging into my current wired system? if so does any one
have a used access point that they would like to get rid of cheap.
topic 2 Programming
I have a need for a terminal to open and perform a set of compilations, need to
call it from within a program code. I know that there is a command to start the
terminal and pass args to it, but I would like to do a little more than that
alone. Like clicking on a error and bring up a window with the file at the line
number of the error. This would require some sub/superclassing. Does anyone have
some c or c++ code for a terminal written that might do what I need? Of course
basic credit will apply to original code, even if I modify it. This is for a
Directed Study I am working on at college anbd future development for Linux. The
project is coming along nicely, but there is a lot of work to get it ready yet.
topic 3. final setup of wireless pcmcia
using a Dell CPx650 and a dlink air dwi-650, prism2 card. Yhe lp reconizes the
card, but the system has trouble setting up the ifconfig/wfconfig system. If some
one has already done this, I would appreciate a copy of your setup, I am using
the latest Gentoo, sometimes Gentoo can be a love hate relationship kinda like
life<g>.
to save some bandwidth you can contact me directly if you like.
cheers Every have a great new year Linux for everyone
