Modem control on ttyS0

May sound odd, but what if you try COM2? I know this sounds odd, but we have an in-house serial bus device that will only work on COM2 under Linux. On COM1 it fails. This device used CD to get attention. I have read odd things about the serial driver having 'features' for COM1 and not COM2 related to mice. I think the discussions were for rather old versions of the driver, but I don't know specifically that the driver is now different.

Of course all this took place over the last dark Nordic winter, when superstitious behavior abounds...
