Rick,
Did do the fdisk /mbr bit. However cannot check partitions as the HD is now a 
lump of wood. If I plug it into MY computer I lose anything on that bus its 
connected to, i.e plug it as secondary to master or secondary and lose that 
bus entirely. Looks as if it has a short.
