Guess I'll start worrying about that when I see lots of folks (or even
one or two) wandering the streets with a serial cable hanging out
their back pocket or serial cables hanging on trees.

But even with a serial cable connected, you've got to put a getty on
the serial port.  So on my systems anyway a serial cable gets you
nowhere.
