Using yum to upgrade RH/FC, now I'm worried ...

Well, I was feeling pretty smug after getting past a few obstacles and
successfully upgrading a RH9 box to FC1. Then I came across this - by
one of the authors of yum, no less:
http://linux.duke.edu/~skvidal/misc/fc1-fc2-yum-hints.txt
"There are certain things only anaconda can do. There is no other way
around it. If you're using LVM stop reading and know that you must use
anaconda to do this upgrade.
In general, if you're not cramped for space/time/something you should
use anaconda to upgrade. You'll find you come out with a much more
reliable upgrade process and much less pain. However, if you'd like to
try to upgrade the whole system via yum you should follow these
instructions."
That leads me to this conclusion:
Upgrading RH/FC via yum will probably work most of the time, but it is
destined to fail at some point - and probably fail hard. And layering
one yum upgrade on top of another will result in an accumulation of
cruft that can only hasten that day.
Anyone know what he might be referring to and if it can be somehow
mitigated.
