It sure does suck getting old but as the say the only thing worse is
the alternative. For the specific function of updating the data
records in your file, I would setup a 2nd file that just contained the
updated records and the actual date that they were corrected. Using a
processing only output you could then lookup into your main file
verify that the record is more recent and then post in the corrected
data. This way even if somebody processed an old file by mistake it
wouldn't affect their main data file. As Richard suggested remote
login is a huge help for unskilled users or anyone for that matter.
Even if you're only using remote control to teach a user or verify
what they're doing it's a great tool and free versions are available.

We have about 1220 members out of about 5000 who served. When Bill finds lost members he adds them and updates those of us that have filepro (legal copies). At that time Bill sent a PKZIP file that recreated the complete MAC folder. When I made a change in the program, I made sure I had the latest updates before sending the PKZIP file. That was a very easy way for Bill and I to update everyone.

So I am thinking about having them send updated individual files, like key, .prc, .out, .sel,, and the like. And I need to find the easiest way for them to update their files. One guy has to have his wife help him do things on his computer.
