[SBU Board] Fwd: Return to F2F Play

I agree with both David's quick take and Jeff's valid point.

I don't buy the excuse that "things vary so we can't help you" aka "not our
problem." This action (or lack thereof) feels political, in that I suspect
the ACBL has gotten backlash from certain areas for prohibiting tournaments
and other events thus far, and both national and the board are reacting
accordingly rather than in the best interests of the game and its players.

I do not like the idea of staffing tournaments with club directors (which
is what is meant by "local directors", as best as I can tell); as much as I
appreciate our club directors (and we have better-than-norm in our area,
generally speaking...many are actual TDs), there are logistics where you
need TDs as well as a consistency of rule application. I also question
whether the club directors we have in this area would be interested in
taking that on, particularly at the rate of pay they're likely to be given.
(If Tim is mentioning costs would be lower, it doesn't sound like they'd
comp those directors at the normal TD rate!) Were I a TD who had been laid
off and saw I was replaced by club directors, I'd be highly unlikely to
consider coming back.

I have many other thoughts, but the tl;dr is this message did nothing to
make me feel more confident in taking on the risk of running a sectional
this year. Quite the opposite.
