I like the idea... anything to incentivize people to play.... especially the newcomers!

We need to focus on events for the C players and newcomers so that they will feel welcome and that their level players are important to the unit also. Not that I am saying the unit does not feel they are important but I am not sure the C players know that the unit board takes them in to consideration and is trying to come up with events and or ways to get them more involved.

You don't even get to keep the trophy. :) Once you establish a prize, it's hard to take it away later without generating disappointment. Plus, BBO still has no process to gift BBO$, nor can our clubs grant free entries through BBO right now.
>>>
>>> Regarding youth awards, to keep this manageable, we need it to be based on information we can easily retrieve. I considered whether we could use the membership type to isolate youth members, but the problem is that youth members who are part of their family's membership show up under family membership types, not youth. (I verified this on our current roster.) I trust that the ACBL has good reason for not providing DOB to units, and I can hypothesize several reasons why it might be that way that are not worth challenging right now.
>>>
>>> If the youth bridge program(s) wanted to track points for their participants (i.e., not the whole unit but only kids they have a relationship with) and do a "points race" award accordingly, I think that would be a good substitute since we can't do a youth race at the unit level. Possible idea for our youth liaisons...

At our normal sectionals, we do a lot to make sure that there's things for I/N and for mid-level players via stratification and flighting.

We could use the GNT flighting/brackets (to avoid any implication that we picked to include or exclude ourselves in various brackets):
