i agree with scott. we should not set a precedent by offering free ads. if we want to monetize the sun publication, we can offer ad space to anyone willing to pay on the same basis. cliff

Here's my view. My issue with putting a mention or an ad in the Sun is that sectionals at Sea are ridiculously expensive. As someone who goes on lots of cruises, there is a huge upcharge to pay for the bridge that I don't think our unit wants to be associated with (and that we don't get any money from).

I would be fine with an article that talks about sectional at sea and puts them in context with the good or bad of them and would even be willing to work on the article. But I don't feel like it's a public service to put the mention in without context.

See below. What is the board's view on a) including in the SUN and/or b) posting on the website?

JC,

I am going to be running a Sectional At Sea on an Alaskan cruise next August. We are going to be leaving out of Seattle on August 12, 2022. We were careful to avoid scheduling this during any local tournaments.

Would it be possible to get this event placed on the unit's website under upcoming tournaments?

Is it possible to announce this event in the SUN? I have attached the flier if you want to take a look.

Joe Grill
