[SBU Board] Fwd: New Virtual Club

The latest “rules” that I have seen regarding guests were from Nick last May:
If you want to play with a guest in any of the Seattle Clubs, there are two rules that all of our clubs must follow.
1) Guests MUST play with a partner that is not a guest. Two guests are not allowed to play as partners. That is a hard and fast rule by ACBL.
2) The number of guests per week that a club can host cannot amount to more than 5% of that week's total number of players. This Peer Pool that we have set up will drastically reduce the number of locals that would otherwise have been considered Guests, but we could still run out of Guest spots late in the week. If you want to play with a guest on Friday or Saturday, please contact that club to check whether they have guest spots still available.
Assuming those guidelines are still in place and apply to other Units it seems that the impact to #446 clubs would be minimal. I do agree with Monty’s point that the views of our club owners/managers should carry quite a bit of weight and should be solicited. Having said all that, I would be in favor of including the game times for anyone in the Region as long as they reciprocate.

Hi all,
I wanted to get the board's input. What are your thoughts on promoting a virtual ACBL club that isn't in our unit in our website or via email? (See email below this for a specific case in question.)
We historically have not promoted events or clubs outside our area, with both practical reasons and philosophical reasons cited. Curious for current thoughts in light of these unique times, though.
(I have opinions given my role of maintaining the website and doing publicity, but I'll hold those for a bit to avoid unduly influencing the board's thoughts.)

Dear President of the Seattle Unit, Chupack,
I am Jerry Thorpe, the assistant director, of the Tacoma Bridge Club in Tacoma.
We have only recently become a Virtual Club. Barbara Nist has been very kind to make it possible, working with Mr. Beye at the ACBL, for the club to join the Seattle Pool.
I am writing to ask if our schedule of games can be put in the announcement section of your web site.
Our games are:
Monday – 2:15 pm – Open
Wednesday – 2:15 pm – Open
We are looking forward to welcoming players from the Seattle pooling, entering games held by the Tacoma Club. As well as our players being welcomed into games held by the Seattle clubs.
I look forward to your reply.
Best Regards,
Jerry Thorpe
