Sorry Tim...hate to do this to you but I have to supervise volleyball games at Forest Ridge and will also not be able to be at the meeting.

Couple of things:

1.	I will email a Fast Pairs report after the game and before your meeting.
2.	I have met with the appropriate people here at Forest Ridge and they are okay giving it another shot under the following conditions: We have our people patrol the parking lot to make sure people park where they are supposed to...and we monitor the smoking. The 1st one would be easy, the 2nd one may take some work. The unit may want to reconsider if this is too much work for you all. Notice I say "you all" since I will be off the board. :)
3. The 2018 schedule looks good to me. Exhausting...but good.

Thanks,
Kim

Subject: [SBU Board] Please Review Proposed 2018 Tournament Lineup

To streamline our board meeting this coming Monday evening, I would like to ask that ahead of the meeting you please review the attached file. It is the planning calendar our Tournament Sites Committee (Ann, John W, Patti, David. Larry and me) developed and used as a tool to identify, consider and formulate proposed dates and sites for our 4 open and 2 NLM tournaments in 2018. I handed out a hard copy during our last board meeting.

Proposed 2018 dates generally follow the pattern of our 2016 and 2017 tournaments. We propose: (a) our usual winter sectional in February, (b) our traditional Memorial Day tournament as these dates also work well with the Bothell Union Hall folks, (c) our Suntan sectional on dates that are intended to fit with school summer schedules, (d) fall sectional in Kent in September on the (only) dates we have protected for us by Kent Commons, so as to service south county members, and (e) NLM sectionals on dates that Patti's experience suggests would best service unit membership.

In formulating this proposal, our committee identified relevant constraints (holidays, NABCs, US Bridge Federation Championships, District level events, and Unit level events in geographic and calendar proximity) and worked its way through pros and cons of available candidate dates.

On Monday evening, I'd prefer not to re-hash the end-to-end steps our committee went through to develop the proposed lineup, but rather focus on the advisability of the proposed dates & sites and address any specific alternative dates and/or sites the board feels should be considered. One of the things to address as we go through this is the status of Forest Ridge School as a future site. Our objective Monday evening will be for the board to approve a 2018 lineup, as we need to move on with acquiring sanctions.

Thanks,
Tim
