[SBU Board] Suggestions for Swiss Team Events

Hi all:

My friend Roger Lowe has been thinking about our Swiss games and has some interesting suggestions which I will summarize below.  More detail is available in a series of email between me,Roger and Matt Koltnow.
I can forward all that to any one interested.  Ideas are well worth considering,

1.  Finding one’s table is often a problem.  Sections can be hard to locate and table numbers are covered with cards and boards. Roger suggests section markers and some additional table markers.  Table ID could be on a wand or a vertical tab clamped to table corner (Matt notes this could be a problem when directors have to shuffle tables.) Roger volunteers to develop some sample table markers.

2.  Caddies (or someone) should check for sharp pencils before the start of the Swiss. (I know we do this at set up but maybe not enough later.)

3. The table assignments are often hard to read.  Roger suggests larger lettering with sans serif font for legibility.  Also the board or tab holder could be on an easel in front of the directors table.
