[SBU Board] A Problem with Our May 2017 NLM Sectional Venue

One issue to keep in mind.  If we hold this at a club, say the ESBC, we
will prob get MORE tables than at an off-site location.,..But I think we
should talk to both Nick and ESBC.  Might be good to consider one day at
one, and the other at the the other (bad sentence, but you know what I'm
trying to say).  Maybe Nick on Sat and ESBC on Sunday at the end of the
month (when it doesn't interfere with special games...

Our first NLM tournaments were at ESBC, we did it there a couple years and
outgrew the space.  There was also at that time a whole cadre of beginners
and C players, who over the past 10 years have eventually made life
master.  I think another fat part of the snake of beginners is starting to
enter the pipeline and should feed this tournament in the years ahead.

Our history in general is that we have never made money with NLMs, but
rarely lost more than $500 on any one of these.  When they have been
well-marketed, including board members in person talking it up at clubs,
esp in the south end, they have done OK. We have also had to try to make
the venue as cheap as possible--that is at the core of keeping the costs
down.
