On a side note, I have had (many) email exchanges with FR people (security/admin/residential house/facilities). I have managed to lessen their frustrations by letting them know all of the measures we took to prevent smoking on campus (on the flyer, posted in the gym, announcement before each session and conversations prior to the tournament to all known smokers). I will meet with the head of school and we will post mortem the event. I will keep you posted. It was suggested that if we do come back to this site that we cone off areas where they aren't supposed to park (even though there are "reserved" signs...), and they suggested we have someone trolling the property the whole time to ensure no smokers. Can't imagine how boring that job would be. How sad that a couple players would force us to have to do that.

Just an FYI, the person in the white tesla (I was told that it was Christine Meyers but have no idea if this is true) continually kept parking in non-parking zones (reserved areas and then the loading dock). The security guard approached me a few times about this.

I am unclear why some bridge players think they are so special and above the rules when it comes to parking/smoking. I will be sad if a couple of people ruin our ability to run events at nice facilities.

I know some people may think that we are blowing the smoking thing out of proportion, but our facilities manager takes great pride in her work. Her crew works extremely hard to keep the grounds green, clean and pretty. We have kids and parents touring the school all the time (even in the summer) and it is important that they know how much we care about this school and the kids who go here. Our enrollment is what keeps us afloat. This weekend we had international boarding students and their families on campus which caused a lot of the uproar over our smokers.

Given the problems with smoking at the Suntan sectional this weekend, I asked David Wright to plan to incorporate a note on the front page of the SUN newsletter that is about to go to print.  He has agreed to do this.  Absent objection, tomorrow (Monday 7/18) I will send him the blurb on the attached Word file.  Please let me know immediately if you have a concern with proceeding with this blurb.
