[SBU Board] Kent in Sept, 2017

Per our discussion at Monday’s board meeting, I contacted Doug Siegert at Kent Parks today.
The subject was whether we were prepared to commit to rent the facility in September 2017, which is 20 months from now.
I told him that date was pretty far out for Kent to expect a final commitment from us now, and would explain the reasons for our hesitance.

His initial reaction was that dozens of organizations contact them, and want to rent space.
But they want to give us some priority, as we rented in May of 2015 and are committed to do it again in Sept of 2016.

I explained we were very pleased with the facility and the turnout last May.  We held it there mostly because the South King County players asked us to hold one of our sectionals tournament in that area; and the bridge players turned out in force.   We will keep the faith with them, and are committed to hold another tournament there this year (2016).  But we don’t know whether our dates in September of this year will work out as well as Memorial Day weekend in 2015.  The results will inform our decision whether to do it there again in September of 2017.  

He said that he “got that,” and promised that he wouId not rent the space for Sept. 2017 without letting us know, so we could decide what we want to do.

Assuming we are not forced to a decision before our Sept 2016 tournament, I promised him we would assess the results very soon after that tournament, and would let him know for sure about Sept. 2017.
