Oh, one more thing. Bridge4Youth Summer Camp is coming along. We're going
to have two sessions this time: a week for pure beginners (headed by Alan
Tessler) and a week for the advaning player (headed by Nick Tipton). Camp
will be at Mercercrest, from July 6 through Sat July 18th. I'll be writing
the ACBL for some help with the funding. We appreciate all the help the
Board has done in the past, and understand the financial position you are
in right now--we'll come back to you for help at another time (when/if
necessary). We had 23 kids last year, and anticipate 30 this year. YEAH!
I, on the other hand, would love to submit the idea of using one of the
games at our sectional as a charity game for B4Y. I think it is a worthy
local charity, benifiting our community and helping to develop the next gen
of bridge players.
I can't speak for Anne Farmer's bridge activities in Seattle, but I think
she has around 20-30 kids in the various schools actively playing bridge.
We are hoping to be able to offer some scholarships for the B4Y camp to
kids who can't afford the fees and transporation to/from MI. STill haven't
worked out the details....but that's our thinking for support.
That's it.
