I won't be there tonight, but my comments re Sweetheart, and upcoming I/N,
and a plug for something I think we need to do.
Sweetheart: all went well on my end, re hospitality and the show in
general. Couldn't have done it without the Board's(and Renea's) help with
the lunch (set up and serving) and especially Susan C, Tom Robinette, Gilda
Joyce and Sharon Erwin's help in the kitchen on Sat and Sun--they were all
troopers. I think we ought to send thank yous to Gilda, Tom and
Sharon--above and beyond.
Lunch was extremely well recieved. People were served fast, salads were
tasty. We can do this again this year, just not right away. Also, I think
it helped a lot that I didn't get to play and could 'supervise', as it
were, for all parts of the lunch: pre, during and post clean up. It made
for a very looooong day, however.
I know I was totally wiped out afterwards--Aaron can attest.
I/N: I'm going to do fruit salad and bagels on Sunday, the rest of the
hospitality is somewhat under control (anyone want to contribute, please
do!--and the girl scouts have some gluten free cookies that look great).
I'll try to be there by 8:30 Sat and Sun for set up, and will be there for
take down. Will be on site most of the event, unless I get a game for ESBC
on Sat. Costco run will be done on Friday.
I'm going to the April District Board meeting: anyone have any issues,
bring them up to Tim and me and we'll get them on the agenda. I think Tim
and I will do a joint report in the Sun afterwards--that's a habit we need
to keep doing going forward.
I wanna jump up and down for the idea of a retreat this summer for the
Board and other interested parties to help brainstorm for how to increase
attendance/interest in Unit events. How to attract I/Ns to play, how to
intice the LMs who drop off, how to get the party bridge players to dip
their toes into clubs and sectionals. I think club owners/managers may be
interested in such an event as well.
See you at the I/N and at the next meeting. Sorry for skipping out last
minute.
