Linux-Friendly ISP?

My friend got his Century Link ADSL set up. it turned out that, indeed,
his land line had been disconnected at the street junction box. He is
pleased with the performance compared with Time-Warner cable. So I
bought the same modem he used and called Century Link today and set up
to add ADSL to my phone account.
It was a pleasant experience. The sales rep - "Amanda" - mentioned she
uses Linux when I brought up the subject. First time I've ever spoken
to a potential ISP sales rep that had any idea of Linux.
My account will be activated tomorrow. So, can any one recommend a good
networking book?
I'll be connecting the modem by ether net cable initially to a
multi-boot computer with Win XP and SuSE 13.1 and Leap. I have a
Netgear wireless router and would like to connect another computer that
lacks built in wireless. Can any one recommend one of those USB
wireless dongles that will be recognized by SuSE 13.1 and/or Leap?
