I have Charter Cable, but nobody asks me about what OS I run since I use a router and pay for a static IP. They do sometimes push back on me because instead of the broadband router they expect, I have a Linux firewall. And <blush> sometimes that is the problem... so I am more than willing to pull the router and plug in a secondary device (often my reliable Linux laptop... shhhhhh) to troubleshoot.
But at the end of the day, it shouldn't matter what kind of OS I run. Charter doesn't seem to mind, they just want something they understand while troubleshooting... something that takes variables out of the loop, and that's cool. That's how I think already.
