(OT) Phone/Internet options in OZ

Telstra: The national carrier with the best coverage charges a premium
Optus: Has just spent 4 billion on infrastructure and you can generally get
services much cheaper than Telstra but with poorer regional coverage.

Data on the mobile carriers is expensive... So for 3 GB a month and phone I
pay $29.90AUD through amaysim (who run on the optus network).

You can purchase prepaid data sims and phone sims for your i* devices but
as Lonni says they cost ....

Free wifi is consistently available from McDonald's restaurants (capped to
50MB I believe). Although other venues (restaurants, public libraries,
cafes) do have free wifi, you have to search.
