Seeing how most widely used programs already have their own active
mailing lists, I wonder if Linux-Users would be able to help more
people if we focused on smaller programs which don't have the
following for their *own* mailing list. I see the same kind of thing
happening with distros where they all seem to have their own mailing
list which is likely to return a quicker more informed response than
if they asked for help here. Not to say we (you) aren't well-informed,
but rather that the program-specific mailing list may have more
complete information.

I know when I have trouble, my order of operations is "google,
stackexchange, program-specific mailing list, distro specific mailing
list, and then the Linux unspecific mailing lists."
Just thoughts in passing.
