Sound Card Recommendations for Linux

Hi, all,

Certainly I am, and I echo Lonnie's wishes.

As it happens I am looking to link my computers to my hi-fi, and my
rarely used TV set, both to play music, and to watch the odd video
DVD.

I am toying with the idea of buying an AV receiver to replace my amp
and to add "a media centre", but wonder if I need to buy a DAC and/or
something like the Cambridge Audio network music player to give me the
most flexibility and "bang for the buck".

Anyone have knowledge of these areas? The web is both over-supplied
with sellers' advice and uninformed e-mails, as far as I can tell, so
any advice will be most welcome!
