Nope. Even at work 99% of the machines are still running XP. And it's
really interesting that half of the applications that are being put up
on windows are still stuck at Server2003 even though Server 2008 has
been out for some time.

I'm starting to learn Power Shell as a preliminary to setting up a
*nix interface to Active Directory. We've been using some ldap scripts
I wrote way back when with no direct connection to the Windows
information (managed by a separate group and now separate company.
Although AD now has a repository for posix data (uid,gid, etc.), we
will still need some scripts to assign uids, gids, etc.in a more
automated fashion.

Since I don't run my own mail server, etc., at home or even have my
own domain, Linux is just a commodity that always works. Not much need
to comment on that.

And,  to follow up on comments later in the thread, I don't know squat
about physics. I did learn a little bit about cellular biology when my
daughter was taking a course in high school.
