I'm not sure what you mean by "photo" scanner -- flat plate or something 
designed specifically batch feeding photo prints -- but I've been using an 
Epson Experssion 1680 flat plate scanner here for at least five or six years. 
It is supported by Sane and has worked flawlessly all this time. (Of course, 
now, it probably will die tomorrow! ;-)
