Domain Does Not Accept Fragmented Messages

I received an undelivered mail notice this morning with the following 
indicated error:

"Domain does not accept fragmented messages - psmtp <in reply to end of DATA 
command)"

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this means in everyday English.

To put this in context, we have a Ricoh Multifunction Printer which we use for 
scanning & emailing customer invoices. The email in question was one of these 
invoices. The invoice is scanned, formatted as a PDF file, and then attached 
to an outgoing email message to the customer. The subject line contains 
something like "Invoice Attached" and a simple "Thank you" or something in 
the body.

I also would like to know if there is a change that I can make in our 
configuration or procedure to avoid these returned emails.
