Linux has become such a reliable commodity that we don't have the need
for "how do I install xyz?" as often as in the past. Almost any distro
you pick is rock solid these days, often on the latest whiz-bang
hardware.
I find that the only thing I do outside of work (mostly Linux servers,
some ugh! Winders, some Solaris) is firefox. I put up PCLinuxOS a
while ago to check out the latet KDE, but I don't even update
frequently. My PC is basically just an appliance. I like the fact that
all the usual non-free suspects are available, but I'm willing to try
the free and GPL stuff when it's really ready for use.
