I think updates are coming from a penitentiary somewhere.

It's got a 4 in it which makes it better than ext3.

I tried to boot from Knoppix 5.11 and it couldn't read my ext4 
partitions so it pays to understand what you lose when moving to it.

I presume a later version of Knoppix will rectify this problem.
