After the previous thread regarding KDE4, I thought I'd mention that I'm
fairly impressed/happy with a new installation of Vector Linux 6.0:
1. LXDE runs nicely on old hardware.
2. I got almost all of the applications I usually use via gslapt.. (I'm
still trying to get PostgreSQL to work.)
3. DVD playback worked out-of-the-box using xine. Xine was started
automatically when the DVD was inserted.
4. A USB thumbdrive was mounted automatically. Although no icon appeared on
the desktop, the thumbdrive appeared as a device in the file manager.
5. The menu is organized in a similar manner to KDE3.
The only thing I haven't tested is printing which will have to wait until I
return to my printer on Tuesday.
Have a great weekend!
Andrew
