I've tried KDE4 in its various versions (running kubuntu here) but I never 
found a place to put in network settings...   NADA    

Under Kubuntu with KDE 3.xx, they at least had a 'settings' window where you 
could do any network settings you wanted....  but I never found anything like 
it in KDE4.   Of course, that would be a distro thing and maybe FC9 did that 
part right.
