Home server (apache, postfix, ssh, ftp, etc.) Debian

1, since it's a home server it's also a desktop at times. I think having
X available makes sense. You don't have to run it all the time.

Text, internet

netinstall.iso

Yes, you are spoiled by Debian, as am I. I recently tried Fedora, but
it's just not Debian. Although, they do have an FC9 114meg net install
iso that you specify the repository for, so it could be either local or
internet, I guess. I suspect Fedora is a poor choice for older hardware.
There must be server only iso's out there that don't require X.

My 'server' is an older compaq with an AMD 32bit single core and 768megs
ram.

You dare to ask this list "how odd am I?" Brave, aren't you? ;-)
