Since the cutover to alsa, I've never had any success with the Ensoniq
cards. The prior Linux sound system worked with no problems, but the
folks at alsa don't seem to be interested in these older cards, and
I've been unsuccessful trying to use them on almost any distro. Also,
there is a considerable lag in moving from the current alsa base to
the somewhat antequated version(s) that are supplied in the standard
kernel tree.
