I'd use VMware server. It's free and runs headless which is the only way 
for a server. But I've had stability problems with it. You'll need a 
full development environment installed to build the kernel modules to 
make it work (unless you go with a "supported" mega$ enterprise distro.

Unless you have some specific instructions handy for making it work on 
slackware, I'd suggest going with some distro a bit more mainstream (as 
far as VMware goes) - either something RHish, Ubuntu or SUSE. Maybe Debian.

For GUI access:
   - The built-in Terminal Services (in admin mode preferably)
   - UltraVNC.com

For command line access:
   - Cygwin   cygwin.com
   - Install sshd per the instructions in
       /usr/bin/ssh-host-config
   - Also install cron per the instructions in
       /usr/bin/cron-config
     Beats the worthless Windows Task Scheduler eight ways to Sunday.

You can also install vim, wget, rsync and a host of other things with no 
equal in the Windows environment.
