Back to the original question, I would say that Ubuntu and RedHat
derivatives are "favored." Nevertheless, I'll third the motion of cmr
and David: Debian is great - no need to reinstall ever.
I'm sure that Debian will get around to the upstart (or equivalent)
stuff as well, once the freeze for the next stable has been lifted.
