When I ran SA, I had to call it from my /etc/procmailrc  but you can hook it 
in several ways.  Depends on how you are processing the incoming mails and 
distributing them.

I found SA to be too much work or diddling with blacklists and whitelists....  
maybe it has improved in the last 3 years.

I now use dspam  which I find to be much better and much less work.
